Yesterday (11th of February 2015), 6 inmates took a military serviceman and a staff member as hostages at Kaohsiung Prison around 4:30pm. Then, the warden Mr. Chen Shih-chih and chief guard Wang Shih-tsang took the place of the two hostages voluntarily. The 6 inmates were armed with rifles. They were in jail for different reasons: drugs, robbery, murder… The hostage situation finished as a drama around 7.30am this morning when they all committed suicide. The 2 hostages got released without being harmed. Let’s go back to what happened during those 13 hours.
The 4 inmates complained that the ex-president of Taiwan Mr. Chen Shui-bian got released because he had problems urinating and declared:
We are all constipated and demand to be released immediately. We want the authorities to provide us a car and we want to be allowed to leave through the prison’s side door. The car needs to be filled with anti-constipation pills.[See article where Chen Shui-bian (阿扁仔) is surprised to not be on the Swiss Leaks in Asia]
The police did not answer positively to their demands and therefore they all killed themselves.
Peanuts Daily also noticed that Kaohsiung mayor Chen Chu (陳菊) arrived at the hostage situation scene very late. We asked her why and she had this to answer:
I was having a full-body massage at a well-known salon. I booked the appointment months ago. I could not postpone it and there was no way I cancel it. Do you know how lucky I was to get that appointment? This is not important. Even if I arrived earlier to the scene, what would I have done? Sneak into the prison and release the hostages? I don’t think so. Plus, I felt fresh and relaxed when I arrived in front of TV cameras and this is important.
Kaohsiung mayor Chen Chu really likes to take care of herself when she is stressed. If you recall, she went to have a manicure right after Kaohsiung gas explosion blast. It reminds us the story: Chen Chu elected mayor of Kaohsiung.
