If you are a fan of football (Or soccer as Americans say), you’ve probably heard about the English goalkeeper David James, more famous under the nickname of Calamity James. This name was given after all the mistakes he made as a goalkeeper. But James was not only a bad goalkeeper; he is also a bad businessman. As revealed by the very serious English newspaper The Sun, after accumulating £20 million (Around 1 Billion NT$) in his career, he squandered it all in just 4 years.
How did he get ruined? Peanuts Daily investigated and to be honest this is all James fault. Indeed, he gave this advice to himself:
I am never in better company than when I am alone. I don’t need any career manager or agent, they don’t know shit: I know. If I want to buy a car, I buy it. I don’t like it anymore; I throw it off a cliff. That’s how I rule.
After this good career advice and money management, Calamity James is back and decided to go play in the famous Iceland football team ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar in order to get a few pennies. He also tried to get money in an auction organized by his ex-football team. The auction ended on November 18th: he got £400 for the destroyed car, £380 for a mug decorated with a picture of The Queen and £60 for the chainsaw he used when he demolished his house for fun. Fortunately for him, the Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas gave £100,000 for the lucky gloves James was wearing at each of his matches.
So the morale of this story is, if you never played football before and want to make tons of money, you can still go to Premiership and apply as a goalkeeper: Arsenal, Everton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers and Burnley are currently recruiting.
